How did you view death and dying before reading MERIDIAN? Has your view changed?

Meridian's mother kept Meridian's ancestry and her destiny as a Fenestra a secret. This gave Meridian the idea she was a freak and she spent years wondering what hellish curse was wrong with her. Was Meridian's mother right to keep the secret and try to protect her daughter? How would Meridian's life have been different if she'd grown up knowing about her destiny? Has anyone kept a secret from you that you wish you'd known instead?

Meridian has to leave her family abruptly and struggles to find her place in this new world. Can you relate to her struggle? What big life changes have you gone through? How did Meridian cope? Could she have coped better? If you were her, what would you have done differently?

It would have been very easy for Meridian to give up fighting and let Perimo kill her and Tens. Why do you think she kept fighting? What situation have you been in where you were tempted to give up and quit but didn't?

What do you hope happens to Meridian in the next book? What do you think she still needs to learn about herself and the world?
